Defend your allies and build your board with this kindhearted defensive deck!

Concept

This defense-focused deck combines its Leader's [Blocker] ability with the powerful 8-cost Eustass"Captain"Kid. It also contains two low-cost search options, with the aim of using a full hand and Blockers to develop a sturdy board.

Deck Breakdown

Early Game

"OP05-022 Donquixote Rosinante" is a Leader card with [Blocker]. In other words, you can redirect attacks toward your Leader, so long as it is active during your opponent's turn.
Fill your hand by protecting Characters that are weak to counterattacks, such as "ST02-007 Jewelry Bonney" and "OP05-034 Baby 5", and gain the edge in resources.
However, remember that having seven or more cards in your hand will prevent your Leader from becoming active in your End Phase. Plan carefully if you want to use its [Blocker] ability when you have a large hand.

This deck's finisher is the 8-cost "OP01-051 Eustass"Captain"Kid". Since this card's usefulness increases with the size of your hand, it's good to prep for the endgame from early on by protecting Characters with your Leader effect and adding Life cards to your hand.

Mid Game

Keep preparing the board for the endgame.
Carve away at your opponent's offense by returning Characters to their hand with the [On Play] effects of "ST03-009 Donquixote Doflamingo" and "OP03-122 Sogeking", or by sending heavy-hitting Characters to the bottom of their deck with "OP04-056 Gum-Gum Red Roc".

Compared to other decks, there's no need to preliminarily line up Blockers when using "OP01-051 Eustass"Captain"Kid". As long as you have even one Life card remaining, you can use your Leader's [Blocker] effect to defend against attacks to your finisher.
In exchange, "OP01-051 Eustass"Captain"Kid" can clear the board to help keep your edge.

End Game

It's time to bring out "OP01-051 Eustass"Captain"Kid", your finisher. Use its [Activate: Main] effect to play a Blocker, then combine them with your Leader effect to build a fortress.
If you use this effect to play "OP05-030 Donquixote Rosinante", you'll be able to protect Eustass"Captain"Kid from cards that skip over Blockers and aim for a direct KO.

Having "OP01-051 Eustass"Captain"Kid" on the field allows you to continuously use powerful effects like that of "OP04-024 Sugar". Shore up your defenses and aim for a counterattack.
