Whitebeard of the Four Emperors makes a grand re-entrance in red. He can boost the power of your Leader or one of your Characters by +4000 at the cost of 1 card from your hand, giving him robust defensive capabilities. Although this deck contains plenty of powerful {Whitebeard Pirates} Characters, it also has many cards that lack a [Counter+]. However, that shouldn't be a problem thanks to this Leader's ability to turn any card into a solid defender. Combine it with Characters that can boost your Leader's power in the endgame and show your opponent just who they're dealing with.

Deck Breakdown

Your Leader "OP17-001 Edward.Newgate" can protect your Leader or up to 1 of your Characters once per turn by giving it +4000 power in exchange for trashing 1 card from your hand.
Use this effect with Characters that can buff your Leader and aim to completely shut down your opponent's attacks.
"OP17-019 I Don't Have Time to Chat with Snot-Nosed Brats" lets you look at 5 cards from the top of your deck and choose a card with a type that includes {Whitebeard Pirates} to add to your hand.
Use it together with "OP17-008 Jozu" and other cards with effects that raise your Leader's power and begin gathering cards in your hand right out of the gate.

Although this deck includes an array of cards capable of buffing your Leader with powerful effects, many of them also lack Counters.
However, this won't be an issue thanks to your Leader, "OP17-001 Edward.Newgate", which can use its Leader effect to protect itself or one of your Characters by giving it +4000 power in exchange for trashing a card from your hand.
This also allows you to fight while assembling the powerful cards you'll need in the late game in your hand right from the start—another of its key strong points.

Play "OP17-007 Kouzuki Oden" and keep expanding your position.
The [On Play] effect of "OP17-007 Kouzuki Oden" allows you to play up to 1 card with a type including "Whitebeard Pirates" and 6000 power or less from your hand.
"OP17-003 Izo" is a particularly good card to play here, with an [On Play] effect that lets you deal a huge blow to your opponent by giving up to 1 of their rested Characters −6000 power.
Its [Rush: Character] effect also allows it to instantly join the fray. Use "OP17-007 Kouzuki Oden" to keep playing out Characters while chipping away at your opponent's forces with "OP17-003 Izo".

"OP16-118 Portgas.D.Ace" and "OP17-007 Kouzuki Oden" are also great choices.
The [On Play] and [On K.O.] effects of "OP16-118 Portgas.D.Ace" are useful for searching your deck for {Whitebeard Pirates} type cards and amassing them in your hand.
This in turn lets you replenish the cards you played out from your hand using "OP17-007 Kouzuki Oden". This powerful combo—continuing to play out Characters while assembling the cards you'll need in the late game— should prove to be a great help in the mid-game.

Continue to play out powerful Characters while buffing your Leader's power.
"OP17-008 Jozu" and "OP17-005 Edward.Newgate" both have [On Play] effects that set your Leader's base power to 8000 until the end of your opponent's next End Phase.
Keep up the offense on your opponent while relying on your Leader's 8000 power to fend off your opponent's attacks during their turn.
"OP17-008 Jozu" and "OP17-005 Edward.Newgate" are also powerful Characters in themselves, boasting 8000 and 12000 power respectively. Keep your cards' power up and ensure you're in a good position both offensively and defensively.

If your opponent has a Character with 10000 power or more on their field, your "OP17-005 Edward.Newgate" in your hand costs 4 less DON!! cards to play than usual, allowing you to play it with only 6 DON!! cards.
This means that you'll have 4 extra DON!! cards to spare if you play it in the late game. You can either hold onto your DON!! cards and focus on setting up Counters, or play "OP17-003 Izo" and continue playing out Characters.
Once your opponent has played a heavy-hitter with 10000 power or more, send out "OP17-005 Edward.Newgate" and go on the counterattack.
